Hey ... last month I spotted
a ref to Manny Albam on web while reading a completely unrelated
email!
So I recently did a quick search and got FOUR good hits -- two
are of recent recordings !!!
1) 1998-Celebrating
Sinatra - by Joe Lovano (sax) and
Judy Silvano (vocals)

Manny said: "What a pleasure to work with Judi Silvano on
Joe Lovano's 'Celebrating Sinatra' project. With her feet in the
two disciplines, I felt no hesitation to write lines for her in
either legit or jazz styles. Her immediate understanding of where
to place her voice is a unique and wonderful combination."
Another quote:
"Marshaling a small ensemble of strings, horns, saxophones and other
woodwinds, veteran arranger Manny Albam has drawn from the legacy of early
Sinatra arrangers Alex Stordahl and Gordon Jenkins to create an elysian
landscape in which the burly-sounding Lovano can romp and, at the top of
his range, skitter." -J.Helligar, E.Levin, L.Stambler
2) 1999-Nancy Marano (vocals)
New recording of Manny's charts and the Metropolee Orchestra:
IF YOU COULD SEE US
NOW supposed to be released early
this year on TMD label.

4) Dakota Staton and Big Band $5.99
-- arr. Manny
Purchase from Euclid
Records
The new stuff sounds great -- Lovano used to play with Woody. So I'm gonna contact Denny about bringing him to Rowan for a gig.
Another cool thing... Ruth's best
friend's husband teaches with and
is good pals with George's wife and him -- they double-date sometimes.
This is just a place that had Manny's
1960 "Double Exposure" LP for info only (which I'm
pretty sure is in my collection).
